Football Tournament

20th Oct 2017

Mullaglass Football Team took part in the annual Mid Ulster Schools October Festival today (20.10.2017). We competed against Tandragee, Richmount, Orchard and Edenderry in our group. The first game was against Tandragee PS which the team narrowly lost 1-0. Nathan Cartmill performed superbly in goals during the game. Matthew Chapman also went close with a long range drive. The second match was against Richmount. This ended 0-0 with Jayden Dodds, Matthew Chapman and Reuben Wylie all going close for Mullaglass. Ally McCann and Daniel Cartmill played strongly in the defence. Jodie O'Neill also looked impressive, showing some neat touches on the ball. The third match saw Mullaglass take on Edenderry. Edenderry raced into an early lead only to see Jayden Dodds equalise after superb built up play from Matthew Chapman and Reuben Wylie. Grace Hamilton was looking lively in the attacking third for Mullaglass, closing down the Edenderry defence and every opportunity. Unfortunately, Edenderry scored in the last kick of the game. The final game saw Mullaglass take on Orchard PS. Mullaglass raced into a lead through Jayden Dodds after good play Matthew Chapman. Mullaglass pressed for another an were unlucky after good efforts from Archie Alderdice and Adam Liggett. Harry Cartmill, who played very well over the course of the tournament, was keeping Orchard at bay. However, a late goal for Orchard resulted in a 1-1 draw.

Mullaglass can be very proud of their efforts. They competed well against the 'big' schools with a very young team. The points that they earned will go towards their next tournament. Well done boys and girls!
