Earthquake Proof Buildings
18th Oct 2023
In P5/6 we have been learning about how some buildings are built to withstand earthquakes in countries, such as Japan, where earthquakes happen frequently.
The children made their own earthquake proof structures using spaghetti and marshmallows. We tested these structures to see if they would withstand ‘an earthquake’ and made improvements to our prototypes. We then used what we had learnt from building our prototypes and designed our own towers, labelling features that our tower should have to make it earthquake proof.
