P1/2 had an exciting day today. We were just about to read our story, ‘The Three Little Pigs’ when Miss Best got a call from a police officer to say that a wolf was on the loose! It had been spotted in Newry and Bessbrook and they needed our help to find it. We made posters to put up around the school to tell everyone to be alert and to call 999 if they spotted anything suspicious. The children were highly motivated and created some first class posters with catchy titles, excellent descriptions and clear instructions about what to do. After lunch we got another call to say that the wolf had been found and taken back to the police station for questioning.
Later on we decided to make wolf traps. We had to use our imaginations and work together as a team to make a plan for our trap. We cut and taped some string in place and then camouflaged our trap with some string. We tested them out and the wolf was caught every time! Well done boys and girls. What a busy day!
