P4/5 - Weekly News (25.3.22)
Our literacy this week has been on planning and writing a newspaper report about our new school playground. This was our first time writing a newspaper report and I have been so impressed with everyone's enthusiasm to share their ideas. We also wrote about our daily routine which linked into our numeracy this week, on time. Numeracy has been challenging this week as we looked at 5-minute intervals then 1-minute intervals as well as converting between analogue and digital times. Lots of great work and progress as the week progressed. Time is an important life skill, I would encourage the children to become familiar with recognising different times throughout the day using an analogue clock as well as recognising the link to digital times.
For our topic work we mummified an apple using salt and baking soda in small groups. The children used digital scales to measure and wrote about what they did. We will check and compare our apples next week to see how well our 'mummified' apples have preserved.
The P5s completed their PowerPoint on Ancient Egyptians during ICT and the P4s started work on designing a newspaper cover using Microsoft Publisher.
Well done everyone, another great week in P4/5!
