P4/5 ~ Weekly News (16.4.25)
P4/5 have been working hard this week and last week completing activities focused around Easter including creating a storyboard to retell the key events of the Easter story alongside Easter artwork. Our literacy also focused on pronouns and developing our comprehension skills.
We focused on fractions by finding the fraction of a shape and an amount as well as identifying equivalent fractions and mixed number fractions. The children also completed work on mass by measuring items around the classroom using digital and non-digital scales in grams and kilograms. We also converted between grams and kilograms and created a shopping list to find the total weight for a variety of different items.
As part of our topic and activity based learning work the children had previously worked in small groups to design and build a boat using junk materials. We were able to test these this week to determine which boats would float or sink depending on the materials and structure used.
We completed our term 2 topic ‘Chocolate’ and finished our brochure to summarise our learning from throughout our topic. This ICT activity enabled the children to develop a variety of skills such as typing, changing the font and colour, inserting images and text boxes as well as make decisions about the layout of their brochure.
P4/5 have had a fantastic term 2 with lots of learning, maturing and most importantly fun!
Have a lovely Easter break 🐥
