P4/5 ~ Weekly News (21.4.23)
We have all settled brilliantly into term 3 and the boys and girls have enjoyed sitting in a new seat beside a different peer. During literacy we have been writing a newspaper report about Mullaglass getting into the Northern Ireland Primary School Football Final. There was great excitement for this writing piece and lots of great reporting. The children will use their ICT time to type up their writing to create a newspaper report on Microsoft Publisher.
Our numeracy focus this week has been on fractions. The P4s have been revising halves and quarters as well as learning about equivalent fractions which can be very tricky but everyone gave their best effort which is great! P5s were working on calculating the fraction of an amount, tenths and decimals with extension work looking at mixed fractions. This is another numeracy area that highlighted the importance of confidently knowing our times tables.
Our topic for term 3 is ‘Weather’. We were lucky to have beautiful weather on Tuesday afternoon which allowed us to take our lesson outside. We were also able to go outside on Thursday afternoon to begin our art activity which enabled the children to use their surroundings which linked into our spring artwork.
I have been super impressed this week with everyone’s work and attitude as we begin our last term in P4/5.
Well done!
Have a lovely weekend ☀️
