P4/5 ~ Weekly News (24.3.23)
This week in P4/5 we have been busy acting as journalists writing a newspaper report on Mullaglass winning the award for ‘Best School in Northern Ireland’. The children really enjoyed writing on their desks then edited their writing before rewriting their final news report for publishing! We have been learning lots about time this week including revising an analogue clock, counting in 5-minute intervals, and converting between analogue and digital times. Time is a very tricky concept and although lots of progress has been made it would be beneficial to focus on recalling different times throughout the day at home.
The children linked their learning of time to writing about their daily routine by choosing a school day and writing about what happens at different stages throughout the day as well as correctly recording the time when it happens.
As part of ‘World Water Day’, we listened to the P4/5 Eco representatives on the importance of water and saving water then as a class the children designed their own poster to remind others of the importance of water.
Our topic work has been focused on designing an open plan house focusing on four main rooms of a home. The children put a lot of thought and effort into their plans by thinking about the items in each room, labelling the items and the junk materials that would be useful to make each part of their home. We then started to create our junk model homes and so far, they are looking fantastic!
Well done P4/5, great work this week 😊
