P4/5 ~ Weekly News (31.1.25)
It has been a busy couple of weeks in P4/5.
Our literacy work focused on adjectives and writing descriptively about either Charlie Bucket or Grandpa Joe, two of the main characters of our class novel so far. We continued our descriptive writing focus to describe a setting, Charlie's house.
Our reading activities were linked to developing our dictionary skills to find the meaning of different words from our reading books.
For numeracy we have been working hard to add three addends to include 2, 3 and 4-digit numbers. We solved word problems linked to addition and subtraction. The children also completed lots of measuring this week to develop their understanding of centimetres and metres.
We learnt the history of chocolate and using a set of cards we were able to correctly order the dates to indicate key events and how chocolate has evolved over the years.
We kept with our theme of chocolate and our class novel during our art lesson to create a golden ticket which had to include the key information as requested by Mr Willy Wonka otherwise the ticket would not be valid!
During PDMU we discussed our feelings and the strategies we can use to help us overcome feelings such as sadness, anger, embarrassment as well as chatting about what makes us feel happy, excited, content and so on.
Well done everyone!
