Titanic Experience
P6/7 had a fantastic day on Wednesday, as they visited the Titanic Quarter in Belfast. The day started by exploring the slipway that RMS Titanic was launched from, back in 1911. They then took a tour of the museum, learning about Belfast in the early 1900's, before travelling through the shipyard exhibit.
Moving on, the children visited recreations of the various cabins and were particularly impressed by 1st class! Hearing the recorded voices of survivors and reading the messages of distress sent from the Titanic made the events of 1912 more real. The tour concluded by watching a film which explored the wreck of the Titanic.
Following the tour, the children were able to cross to the SS Nomadic, eating their lunch in the old ship's engine room.
A thoroughly enjoyable and informative visit.
